9 Best Clearscope Alternatives in 2026 for Editorial and SEO Teams

The nine Clearscope alternatives worth looking at are Amadora AI, Surfer SEO, Frase, Semrush, Writesonic, Goodie, Rankability, Conductor and Clearscope itself. Clearscope is the content grade editorial teams standardise on: $129 a month buys unlimited users and projects, a letter grade inside Google Docs or WordPress, and Search Console positions for every page it monitors. What a grade cannot show is whether an AI answer cited the page. Clearscope tracks 50 prompts at that price, on two engines by its pricing page's count or three by its product page's, and every gap it finds still ends in a draft someone else has to publish.

All nine, side by side

Nine tools on the five things that decide a Clearscope evaluation: entry price, engines included at that price, brands and seats, how far each carries the work, and whether it sees Google. The execution column decides most of them — it says where a tool stops between measuring a problem and proving it was fixed.

Prices come from each vendor's own pricing page, read on 14 September 2026, at monthly list; Rankability's page now redirects to a demo request. Amadora AI is our product.

Why teams leave Clearscope

Teams leave Clearscope when the question changes from how good the page is to whether an AI answer used it. The pricing is simple and kind to large teams — $129 a month for unlimited users and projects, billed monthly with no contract — but the meters sit elsewhere. Essentials tracks 50 prompts and monitors 50 pages. Business at $399 raises both to 300 and topic explorations from 20 to 50, and keeps the same 20 drafts a month, so tripling the bill buys no extra writing; pages and drafts past the allowance are added to the subscription automatically. Engine coverage never grows with the plan, and Clearscope’s own pages disagree on it: the pricing page says ChatGPT and Gemini, the Prompt Tracking page says ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, and neither names Perplexity, Copilot or Google’s AI Overviews.

The second reason is what a finished grade leaves undone. Clearscope’s Content Inventory is strong on the Google half — clicks, impressions and average position per target query, a striking-distance view of pages ranked 10 and below, alerts for 404s and indexing errors. What it hands back is a recommendation. Its WordPress plugin loads the grade into the editor rather than publishing the draft, internal links arrive as anchor-text suggestions, and the 404 an alert flagged is still yours to fix. A content team that wants the citation gap closed ends up buying the closing somewhere else.

How we compared

Every price, seat count and engine list here was read off each vendor’s own pricing page on 14 September 2026, in a browser, with each billing toggle checked before a figure was taken — Surfer and Writesonic open on annual, and Clearscope sells monthly only. Semrush’s page served euros to our connection, so its dollar figures are from our 31 August read. Rung placements come from vendor documentation, including Clearscope’s support centre and Rankability’s help centre.

Amadora AI is our product and it ranks first here. Its entry follows the same shape as every other, limitations included, and every competitor links to its own site so you can check the figures. A wider set of tools sits in our roundup of the top LLM monitoring tools.

The nine alternatives, ranked

Ranked for the buyer currently evaluating Clearscope: an editorial or SEO content team that grades every draft, already reports on Google, and now needs to know whether AI answers cite the pages it publishes.

01

Amadora AI — Best for content and SEO teams that need to know whether AI answers cite their pages, and the gap closed rather than graded.

Our productRung 7 of 7From $59/mo3 engines on every planGoogle SEO included

Amadora AI runs a brand’s prompts daily against the live ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini interfaces rather than APIs, and names the competitor owning the sources each answer trusted. Where Clearscope grades the draft, it produces the work that closes the citation gap, ships it into the CMS and repairs the links and schema around it.

Amadora.ai homepage
Amadora AI leads on finding why a client is not cited, then shipping the fix.
Key features
  • Publishes to WordPress and Webflow directly, other platforms through plugin, API and MCP.
  • Agents repair internal links and apply on-page changes and schema, approval-gated and reversible.
  • Search Console connects, so Google positions sit beside AI answers in one week-over-week report.
Pricing

Three tiers on Amadora AI’s pricing page. Starter $59/mo: 15 prompts, one brand, one seat, 300 credits. Professional $179/mo: 100 prompts, unlimited brands and seats, 1,000 credits. Agency $499/mo adds white-label, workspaces and API on 3,000 credits. Credits price deliverables — 15 a brief, 25 a draft, 300 an audit.

Limitations
  • No content-grade editor: for scoring a draft as a writer types, Clearscope is the better tool.
  • 300 tracked prompts cost $499/mo on our Agency plan, against $399 on Clearscope Business.
  • One seat on the $59 Starter, where Clearscope gives unlimited users from $129.

Best for content and SEO teams that need to know whether AI answers cite their pages, and want the gap closed rather than graded. Not the right call if a trusted grade inside Google Docs is the whole job.

02

Clearscope — Best for editorial teams that want every writer working to one trusted content grade, with no seat maths and no contract.

Rung 4 of 7From $129/moUnlimited users and projectsGoogle SEO yes

Clearscope is the content grade editorial teams standardise on. It reads what ranks for a query, grades a draft against those terms with a letter, and loads the grade into Google Docs, Microsoft Word or WordPress while the writer works. Unlimited users and projects on every plan let a whole writing team work to one standard, and Search Console data shows how each published page performs afterwards.

Clearscope homepage
Clearscope puts ChatGPT beside Google in the headline; its pages disagree on engines.
Key features
  • Unlimited users and unlimited projects on every plan, billed monthly with no contract.
  • Content Inventory prints clicks, impressions and average position per target query.
  • Draft with AI builds an outline and a full draft from its SERP analysis.
  • Prompt Tracking on 50 or 300 prompts, smoothed with rolling averages.
Pricing

Essentials $129/mo: 50 tracked prompts, 50 pages, 20 topic explorations and 20 drafts. Business $399/mo: 300 prompts and 300 pages, 50 explorations, the same 20 drafts and an account manager. Enterprise is custom. Extra pages cost $25 per 100 on Essentials and are added to the bill automatically. A 14-day trial runs first.

Limitations
  • ChatGPT and Gemini per its pricing page; its product page adds Claude, and neither names Perplexity.
  • Nothing publishes: the WordPress plugin loads the grade into the editor and stops there.
  • Twenty drafts a month on both plans, so tripling the price buys no extra writing.

Best for editorial teams with many writers who need one trusted grade and Search Console data in the same tool. Not for a team whose question is which AI engines cite them.

03

Surfer SEO — Best for content teams that want a live content score and five AI engines tracked daily on one subscription.

Rung 4 of 7From $59/mo5 engines on ProGoogle SEO yes

Surfer is the nearest like-for-like on this page: a content editor that scores a draft against the live SERP as it is written, with AI tracking in the same subscription. Where Clearscope’s pages count two or three engines, Surfer’s $219 Pro plan tracks 50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews. The tracking is also sold alone, now at $95 a month.

Surfer SEO homepage
Surfer leads on being the answer in Google, and everywhere buyers search.
Key features
  • Content Editor scoring against the live SERP, with 1-click content optimisation.
  • Five engines tracked daily on Pro; Standard’s 25 prompts cover ChatGPT, weekly.
  • Rank Drop Detection from Standard and a cannibalisation report on Pro.
  • 1-click Internal Linking on Pro, acting on the document inside Surfer.
Pricing

Discovery $59/mo, Standard $119, Pro $219 and Peace of Mind $359, each 17% cheaper billed yearly at $49, $99, $182 and $299, which is the default toggle; Enterprise is $999. AI Search Analytics alone is $95/mo, or $82 yearly, for 50 daily prompts. Seats run 1, 3, 5 and 10.

Limitations
  • No AI prompts on Discovery, so tracking starts at $119 with one engine.
  • One seat on Discovery and five on Pro, where Clearscope gives unlimited users.
  • Optimisation acts on the document; nothing reaches the live site.

Best for a content team that wants to keep writing against a score and add five engines on one bill. Not for a large writing team on a small budget — the Surfer SEO alternatives page works through where its seats run out.

04

Frase — Best for small content teams that want the article researched, written and published live without a second tool.

Rung 5 of 7From $49/moPublishes from $49Google SEO yes

Frase finishes the job Clearscope hands back. Every plan, the $49 Starter included, writes the article and publishes it to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, or hosts it on FraseCMS, and its autonomy setting lets the agent publish without approval, content type by content type. Content Guard then watches published pages for decay and drafts the fix.

Frase homepage
Frase promises SEO and AI search end to end - audit, research, writing, publishing, hosting.
Key features
  • Publishes to four CMSs on every plan, or hosts the post on FraseCMS free.
  • 10, 40 or 100 articles a month, against Clearscope’s 20 drafts on both plans.
  • SEO and GEO scores side by side in the editor, plus a site auditor.
  • Content Guard returns fixes for decaying pages as drafts for approval.
Pricing

Starter $49/mo, Professional $129 and Scale $299, or $39, $103 and $239 billed yearly, and every card prints both. Starter covers one seat, one site, 10 articles and 50 AI visibility prompts, and extra seats are $29/mo each. A 7-day trial runs without a card.

Limitations
  • Two engines at $49, ChatGPT and Google AI; five only on the $299 Scale plan.
  • One seat at $49, and each extra seat is $29 where Clearscope’s are free.
  • Internal linking stays a suggestion, and live pages are never rewritten on their own.

Best for a small team that wants the article written and pushed live at Clearscope’s price or less. Not for a large editorial team, where seats cost more than the plan — the Frase alternatives page covers that trade.

05

Semrush — Best for teams already inside an SEO suite that want AI visibility and content optimisation beside rankings and audits.

Rung 3 of 7From $139/moAI tracking from $199Google SEO yes

Semrush is the suite most content teams already pay for somewhere, and since its 2026 restructure it reports AI visibility beside rankings, keywords and site audits. Its content optimisation starts on Pro+ at $299, which is where it overlaps with Clearscope. The AI half starts a tier lower, at $199, and the fine print there is one domain.

Semrush homepage
Semrush, now an Adobe company, sells visibility across every channel.
Key features
  • AI visibility from Starter at $199: 50 prompts and 300 AI visibility reports a day.
  • Content optimisation and keyword cannibalisation analysis from Pro+ at $299.
  • Position tracking, site audit and keyword research on every plan.
  • An AI-ready site audit and MCP access from Starter.
Pricing

SEO $139/mo carries no AI search tracking; its card crosses out all four AI rows. Starter $199/mo adds 50 prompts a day and one domain for AI brand performance, Pro+ $299/mo covers 100 prompts, and Advanced $549/mo covers 200 plus API. Annual billing saves up to 17%, and extra users start at $45/mo.

Limitations
  • One domain for AI brand performance at $199, where Clearscope’s projects are unlimited.
  • Every extra login costs from $45 a month, which a large writing team feels.
  • Citation analysis is shallow next to the AI-native tools, and nothing is published.

Best for a team already inside Semrush that wants AI visibility and content optimisation in the tool it already pays for. Not for an editorial team of twenty, where the user add-on outgrows the plan.

06

Writesonic — Best for content teams that want more AI articles a month than a content grader allows, published straight into WordPress.

Rung 5 of 7From $99/mo15 articles a monthGoogle SEO partial

Writesonic began as an AI writer and grew a visibility product around it, and the plan cards still lead with the writing: 15 AI articles a month and ten site audits on the $99 Starter, beside tracking on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Its AI Content Editor publishes to a live WordPress site through a plugin, as a new post or over an existing one.

Writesonic homepage
Writesonic sells the before-and-after of AI visibility rather than the measurement.
Key features
  • 15, 25 or 50 AI articles a month by tier, against Clearscope’s flat 20 drafts.
  • WordPress publishing that creates a post or updates an existing one.
  • 50, 100 or 200 prompts on the same three engines, tracked daily.
  • An Action Center with five on-page and five off-page actions a month on Growth.
Pricing

Starter $99/mo, Basic $249 and Growth $499, each 20% cheaper billed annually at $79, $199 and $399, which is the default toggle. Seats run 1, 2 and 3, with extra users at $50/mo each up to five. Enterprise is custom and the only tier tracking all ten platforms.

Limitations
  • Three engines on every published tier; Perplexity and Claude need Enterprise.
  • One seat and one project at $99, where Clearscope gives unlimited users and projects.
  • Sentiment starts on Growth, and the full Action Center is Enterprise-only.

Best for a content team that wants more writing a month than Clearscope’s 20 drafts, delivered into WordPress. Not for an editorial team that needs everyone logged in.

07

Goodie — Best for single-brand teams that want five engines tracked daily and a monthly budget of optimisation actions spent on the gaps.

Rung 4 of 7From $399/mo5 engines at entryGoogle SEO partial

Goodie picks up where Clearscope’s Prompt Tracking stops. Core at $399 tracks five engines daily — ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, AI Mode and Copilot — and spends ten optimisation actions a month on the gaps it finds, through a content writer, a technical agent and an outreach agent. It ties the result to revenue through Google Analytics.

Goodie homepage
Goodie claims the full AEO stack rather than one step of it.
Key features
  • Five engines on Core, eight on Pro and up to twelve on Enterprise.
  • 10, 30 or 60+ optimisation actions a month across content, technical and outreach agents.
  • Revenue attribution through Google Analytics, with Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • MCP server access from Core, and analytics on how AI agents reach the site.
Pricing

Core $399/mo: 100 prompts, five engines, ten actions, three seats, two countries and two languages. Pro $999/mo: 250 prompts, eight engines, 30 actions and five seats. Enterprise is sold through a demo. The annual tab promises two months free but prints no annual figure. A 7-day trial runs on Core.

Limitations
  • Nothing publishes below Enterprise, where WordPress, Vercel and Cloudflare connect.
  • Search Console feeds attribution, with no rank tracking.
  • Three seats on Core, against unlimited users at Clearscope.

Best for a single brand that wants five engines watched and the fixes worked by agents, with revenue attached. Not for a writing team whose daily need is a grade on the draft.

08

Rankability — Best for agencies that want classic, local, video and AI tracking in one tool and articles published to WordPress, Webflow or GitHub.

Rung 5 of 7No public priceUnlimited usersGoogle SEO yes

Rankability is the other content platform here that publishes, and it reaches further than Frase in one direction: its Copywriter sends an article to WordPress or Webflow, live or as a draft, or opens a GitHub pull request against a Markdown site. Classic, local, video and AI search are tracked in one place, with unlimited users. What it no longer shows is a price.

Rankability homepage
Rankability sells AI search analytics to agencies, and now prices plans on a call.
Key features
  • Publishing to WordPress, Webflow, a GitHub pull request or your own webhook.
  • Google, Bing, local-pack and video rankings beside AI answers and citations.
  • Unlimited users on every plan, and any supported AI platform addable to a plan.
  • Scheduled routines that publish, falling back to a CMS draft when a check fails.
Pricing

No plan carries a public price: its pricing page redirected to a demo request when we checked on 14 September 2026. Its help centre names three plans, Starter, Core and Team, at 60, 125 and 250 tracked prompts and 1, 3 and 10 brand workspaces, and says the Agency plan is no longer sold.

Limitations
  • No published price, so a budget starts with a sales call.
  • Starter tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Claude; Gemini waits for Team.
  • A publish creates a new CMS item; later edits happen in the CMS.

Best for an agency that wants every search surface tracked and articles published from one tool, and is content to price it on a call. Not for a team that needs a figure before the first meeting.

09

Conductor — Best for enterprise content teams that want drafts, SEO reporting and site monitoring governed in one platform.

Rung 4 of 7Quote only60 drafts a year at entryGoogle SEO yes

Conductor is the enterprise version of Clearscope’s bundle: a Writing Assistant with content scores, SEO performance reporting and 24/7 site monitoring, with AI search tracking across eight engines folded in. Four products share one login — Creator, Intelligence, Monitoring and AgentStack — and pricing is built on usage rather than seats. No tier carries a figure.

Conductor homepage
Conductor puts an AI Search Performance dashboard on the homepage and the price behind a demo.
Key features
  • Writing Assistant drafts with content scores and content profiles on every tier.
  • 2,500 AI search credits a year on Essentials and Growth, per its plan table.
  • Keyword tracking from 500 terms and monitoring from 100,000 pages.
  • Internal link recommendations on every tier.
Pricing

Three named tiers and no figures: Essentials, Growth and Enterprise. Allotments do the work — Writing Assistant drafts 60, 180 and custom a year; tracked keywords 500, 5,000 and custom; websites 3, 5 and custom. Essentials carries a free trial, and single sign-on starts on Growth.

Limitations
  • No price at any tier, so it cannot be compared on cost without a call.
  • 60 drafts a year on Essentials is five a month, against Clearscope’s 20.
  • Internal links are recommended, never placed, and nothing reaches a CMS.

Best for an enterprise content and SEO team that wants governance, monitoring and SSO from one vendor. Not for anyone who needs the price before the conversation.

Best by job

Giving a large writing team one standard

Clearscope. Unlimited users and projects from $129 a month, a grade inside Google Docs, Word or WordPress, and no seat maths when the freelancer list grows.

Scoring drafts and tracking five engines in one tool

Surfer SEO. Pro at $219 keeps the live content score and tracks 50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews.

Turning a citation gap into a live page

Amadora AI. The gap ends in a brief, a draft published to WordPress or Webflow, and the links and schema repaired around it, with Google positions in the same report. Unlimited brands and seats from $179 a month.

When Clearscope is still the right choice

  • Your writers need a grade while they type. Clearscope scores the draft inside Google Docs, Word and WordPress; Amadora AI has no content-grade editor.
  • Twenty writers and freelancers need logins on a small bill. Clearscope gives unlimited users at $129; our $59 Starter is one seat, and unlimited seats start at $179.
  • You track 300 prompts and want the lower bill. Clearscope Business covers 300 for $399 a month; 300 prompts is $499 on our Agency plan.

The execution ladder

The execution ladder is seven steps from measuring an AI visibility problem to proving it was fixed: measure, diagnose, plan, produce, publish, fix, prove. Engine counts and prompt limits miss the thing it captures, which is how much work lands back on your team. Every platform here climbs the same seven steps and each stops somewhere.

Scroll the table sideways

Rung placements reflect what each vendor documents publicly, read on 14 September 2026. Clearscope sits at 4: Draft with AI builds outlines and full drafts, but its support centre lists three integrations — a WordPress plugin and a Google Docs add-on that load its recommendations into the editor, and Search Console — and none of them publishes. Rankability holds at 5 on its help centre, which documents publishing live to WordPress or Webflow and opening GitHub pull requests.

Clearscope climbs as far as most of this page and stops in the same place: the draft. Five of the nine stop at rung 4 or below. Four publish, and of the three that are not ours — Frase, Rankability and Writesonic — none repairs the internal links, schema or broken pages around what it published, which is rung 6. Google is where this page is unusually strong: seven of the nine report rankings, Clearscope among them with Search Console positions in its Content Inventory. What stays rare is the week-over-week report that puts AI citations and Google positions side by side, next to the work that moved them.

Migrating off Clearscope

Little is locked in. Drafts share as links and export, and anything written through the Google Docs add-on or the WordPress plugin already lives in those documents and posts. Content Inventory’s numbers come from your own Search Console property, so the history stays in Google and reconnects to whatever replaces it; the annotations and content grades do not travel. Tracked prompts move as a list you paste into the new tool. AI visibility history does not transfer in either direction, because each vendor samples engines and scores mentions differently.

Clearscope’s monthly plans carry no minimum contract, so a switch costs nothing beyond the current month — the exception is a yearly custom plan, which Clearscope invoices. Expect first data within twenty-four hours of adding a domain and a usable trend line at about two weeks. The clean sequence is to run the replacement beside Clearscope for one billing month, then decide whether the grade is what your writers rely on: several tools here sit beside it rather than replacing it.

Common questions

How much does Clearscope cost?

Clearscope costs $129 a month for Essentials and $399 for Business, with Enterprise on a custom quote (vendor pricing page, September 2026). Both plans include unlimited users and projects and 20 drafts a month; Business raises tracked prompts and pages from 50 to 300. Billing is monthly with no contract, and pages past the allowance are billed automatically at $25 per 100 on Essentials.

Does Clearscope have a free trial?

Yes, 14 days, and every plan on its pricing page starts from the same free-trial button, Enterprise included. After that its monthly plans carry no minimum contract and cancel without penalty. Yearly billing exists only as a custom plan Clearscope invoices, and its support centre says add-ons are not supported on Enterprise plans billed by invoice.

Does Clearscope publish content to WordPress?

No. Clearscope's WordPress plugin links a shared Draft to a post and loads the grade and term recommendations into the editor, and the Google Docs add-on does the same in a document. Publishing stays a manual step. On this page Frase, Rankability and Writesonic publish directly, and Amadora AI publishes to WordPress and Webflow.

Does Clearscope track Google rankings?

Yes, through Search Console. Clearscope's Content Inventory shows impressions, clicks and average position for each page's target query, a Striking Distance view lists pages sitting in position 10 or below, and a decay view flags pages losing clicks. Seven of the nine tools here report Google rankings, Clearscope among them.

What is the best Clearscope alternative for AI visibility?

Surfer SEO, if your writers want to keep a live content score: its $219 Pro plan tracks 50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews. Amadora AI is the answer if the gap needs closing rather than grading, with three engines on every plan, the draft published and the links around it repaired.

What is the best Clearscope alternative for agencies?

Amadora AI, if the agency is paid for the work: unlimited client brands and seats from $179 a month, with white-label and consolidated billing on the $499 Agency plan. Rankability sells to agencies too and publishes, but its pricing page now redirects to a demo request, so that comparison starts with a call.
